The old met tech building is an ex Heard Island hut (it actually is a Norwegian design and we believe this particular hut was made in Norway, disassembled and sent to Heard), it came from Heard Is. to Mawson in 1955 or 1956 and was used as a science building at first. Some time in the early 1960's the 'Met Tech' began using it as a technical workshop and store. It was used for that purpose up until the Ops. building was commissioned in 1994. It continued to be used as a store for the Met Tech until 1998. Right now it is awaiting RTA (as it has for the last 2 years). Click on the image to the left for a larger picture in a new window.
