The helicopter pads are used fairly infrequently at Mawson. There are three helicopter pads but usually only 2 are used. Sikorsky S76s and AS350BA (Squirrels) are the two main types of helicopters that visit Mawson carrying expeditioners from ships off shore, or on interstation flights to Davis.
