A
few hundred photos later, Santa sat down and invited everybody
to sit on his knee and receive their presents... the next
30 minutes was the most amusing part of Christmas - watching
everybody open their present and their expressions on their
faces once they say what somebody had made for them. Presents
ranged from a bag of old socks (probably the worst present)
to beautifully hand crafted wooden bowls, model Seals, brass
plaques and hand built can openers.
Nick and Annette receiving their
present from Santa
I
was given a number of things - two large black and white pictures
of Rock Hopper and King penguins - taken on Macquarie Island,
as well as a boomerang, a pocket knife and a ANARE Chefs badge.
The last item gave it away as to who gave me the present, so
I thanked Gerbil afterwards.
Some
people gave their thanks to Santa in unusual ways..
Some
of the presents were expertly made - and a lot of time had been
spent in their construction. Jason McHale, a sparky, made an
excellent milling machine ..
