East Bay & the Melt Bell (part 3 of 3)
Friday 5th Nov 99

... continued

I have also visited the hydroponics lab where there are lot's of fresh vegies including miniature tomatoes which mysteriously keep disappearing when they are ripe!!..

The air inside is about 30deg, and very very very humid so I had hard time stopping the lens from fogging up.

The doors on the buildings here are like freezer doors, except they are designed to keep the heat is on the inside.

The doors are 150mm thick, and there are huge latches that stop the door from being sucked open in a blizzard.

To give you an idea of a blizzard, I've attached two photos of the same
anemometer located on the top of the Aeronomy building.

The first on the left is in calm weather and on the right in 70knot (130kph) winds. The blizzard picture is taken from inside the Aeronomy dome out of the wind.

last but not least is a picture of my room which is not quite as neat as it should be!.

Cheers,

Kym
